Didcot District Community Centre

As part of the Great Western Park development, Taylor Wimpey were required to provide a number of community facilities.

Working with Philipson Knowle we developed the outline consent scheme for the Centre to gain full planning approval and the on to construction and completion.

The brief was to provide a facility that can meet the need for large congregations and to provide a meeting place in the heart of the community. The large hall can seat 200 people can be used for a variety of functions. The full catering kitchen enables the community centre to provide a fully functioning café, as well as the opportunity to cater for large functions in the main hall. Part of the building has been used for a self contained facility to be used by the local community Police team, providing them with a valuable base in the centre of the new housing development, close to the new amenities that have been provided – shops, restaurants, education facilities etc.
