Didcot South Community Centre

The Southern Community Centre is part of the Great Western Park development and was delivered in conjunction with the larger District Community Centre.

We were appointed to take the development from sketch scheme status through the planning application stages to construction and completion. An early decision was made to construct the building as a timber framed building and is clad in timber & render panels. The timber frame gave programme advantages as there was a considerable amount of enabling & ground works to be carried out before construction on the building could commence.

It’s intended use is for local youth groups (Scouts, Guides etc) during the evenings, and local interest groups during the day. There is a large room for groups, as well as a small meeting room. A kitchen is provided within the building, with an opening window opposite the MUGA to provide food & snacks for those playing basketball or 5-aside football. The building is adjacent to a community sports pitch, allowing the large room to be used for sports teams post competition.
